While Fox News has been one of the most influential TV networks in the United States over the last few years, it cannot be considered a credible news source. After all, the network has a clear right-wing and pro-Republican bias that makes it impossible to consider it trustworthy, as they won’t deliver balanced or neutral reporting in many of their news reporting and stories.
Another reason why Fox News is not a credible source is the large amount of right-wing hosts, with some of them being radicals or even conspiracy theorists. One of them was Tucker Carlson, who started as a moderate right-wing host and eventually became an extremist who allowed many radicals to express their opinions on his show. He even promoted the “Great Replacement” theory, which is one of the most unhinged conspiracy theories among some fascists or even White supremacists around the world.
Also, Fox News has sometimes fallen into disseminating fake news or misinformation, which is one of the most delicate situations a media outlet or TV network can experience because of the inevitable blowback to its credibility. In fact, Fox News lost the Dominion lawsuit, which forced the network to pay a large sum of money and admit a lack of responsibility in their reporting.
Finally, Fox News cannot be considered a credible news source because it has regularly used sensationalist strategies in its news coverage over the last few years to attract more viewers and increase its fanbase.
Fox News has many good shows, and some of its hosts are among the best in the country. However, it isn’t trustworthy.

As Fox News admittedly leans to the political right, it does so out of necessity. In fact, no news channel is without bias. A recent Pew Research study found that Fox News is among the largest sources trusted by Americans, with 43% of US adults saying they trust it for political news. Fox News has been more accurate than many of its counterparts in its reporting.
While much of the legacy media suppressed or denied the accuracy of the Hunter Biden laptop story, Fox News and others have been vindicated for debunking it as Russia disinformation. When the legacy media was peddling the Russia collusion story, Fox News rightfully questioned that narrative. It was also much less likely to take the government’s statements regarding COVID-19 origins, vaccine efficacy, and school lockdowns at face value. Much of that narrative has been shown to be, at best, overstated and, at worst, outright lies by the government and the media outlets that repeated it. When the rest of the legacy media regurgitates Democratic talking points, Fox News does not and is often proven correct over its competition.
Fox News routinely outpaces other cable competitors in ratings, and there's a good reason why the network has dominated the cable news ratings for years. It clearly indicates that Americans see it as a trustworthy news source. If not for the extreme media bias that heavily favors Democrats (as many mainstream media figures are known to donate to the DNC), Fox News might never exist. As a recent Media Research Center study shows, media coverage of Kamala Harris, since Biden withdrew from the 2024 presidential race, has received 84% positive media coverage, while Donald Trump’s coverage during that time has been 89% negative. Denying bias while claiming objectivity at the same time is what makes a media outlet untrustworthy.
