Election and political integrity are hallmarks of a free society and are a valued asset to all Americans; Attorney General Barr is wrong not to investigate the numerous examples of voter fraud and irregularities from November's presidential election along with the Biden family scandal. In Georgia, an estimated 20,312 people illegally voted since they did not meet residency requirements. In Pennsylvania, over 58 thousand 'mail-in ballots were received on or BEFORE the mailed date.' And an additional 51 thousand ballots arrived a day after the postmark. In both cases, the suspicious totals are more than enough to change their state's election results. What's more, Judicial Watch conducted a study of 37 states and found that '352 US counties in 29 states managed to have 1.8 million more registered voters than eligible voting-age citizens.' A recent poll by the Honest Elections project revealed that 90% of respondents supported measures to increase fairness and integrity in the voting process.

Besides just the voting fiasco, Attorney General Barr has also shied away from using a special counsel to investigate Hunter Biden's dealings in China and the Ukraine when Hunter's father was Vice President. The New York Post recently uncovered key documents from Hunter's hard drive that suggest a host of improper and questionable transactions involving large sums of money changing hands. Senate Republicans recently issued a report claiming Biden received $3.5 from the former mayor of Moscow's wife. Most troubling is the implication that the President-elect was aware of his son's unsavory dealings. Barr should exercise his Constitutional power to investigate the serious charges of election fraud and any Biden family corruption before leaving office.

William Barr is right not to appoint a special counsel to investigate Hunter Biden or the November election's veracity. The Senate Report on Hunter Biden didn't turn up anything illegal, and there hasn't been any significant proof of irregularities in the election. As Judge Stephanos Bibas said regarding one of the president's frivolous lawsuits, '…calling an election unfair does not make it so.' Beginning another lengthy investigation would simply be a waste of resources.

In an interview with the Associated Press, Barr said there had been no significant election fraud. Multiple lawsuits put forward by the president's legal teams have failed. As their claims have been examined factually, they haven't passed muster. States have certified their elections, and the electoral college has voted. Democracy has worked, and the people have spoken in the most secure election in history.

Though President Trump and the Republicans repeatedly attempted to damage Joe Biden's reputation during the election by insinuating his son had done something wrong, they could not convince enough voters. This disinterest during the election proves that most Americans are done with this non-story and are ready to move on to more productive uses of government resources. 

President Trump seems intent on investigating the Bidens as revenge for the humiliation endured during his own investigations and unwillingness to accept what is so clear to the rest of our democracy. This speaks more to the president's character than to the actual need for such investigations. It is simply un-presidential, unnecessary, and Attorney General Barr is right not to pursue it.
